Chennai

Hmm...well...i cant say its perfect, its far from that, but you have to admit, chennai is awesome. You can feel things here that you can't possibly even if you go to the other end of the world. Cruising through the streets on a rickety old bike, watch out for the pits! The sweet alluring smell when you pass roadside stalls. Steaming hot vadas dunked in spicy sambhar as you're cramped into a table at the far end of a hotel. How sometimes(strangely) the idlies in certain hotesl vary so much that they could either be petal soft or can be used as a knockout weapon against the person who sits next to you yapping away on his/her cellphone. Whcih brings me to another really strange aspect of chennai-Everyone's got a cellphone. The guy who sells you tea in the trademark cinema style cups, the lady who goes door to door selling flowers or even the lady at the end of the street who has a blanket spread out and bananas of different sizes..All of them, including my little niece Maya owns phones.I guess thats a sign of development?

And going around in an auto is another outta the world experience. Everything, starting from the heated debate about how much you pay him, to the dusty breeze that messes up your so labouriously styled tresses and you end up getting out of the auto looking like you've been lifted off your feet by a tornado.

First stop...Adyar bakery. Uh no you're not actually going to enter the bakery, its the side stall that you wanna go to. They sell the world's most delicious cutlets and steaming hot punjabi samosas. And it ain't a fancy restaurant. You gotta grab your order, put it on a magazine page artfully wrapped up like a fancy fragrant christmas present and (if you're hungry) rip it open and start eating. I don't know about the tourists or anyone who would happen to be visiting but my theory is that all the chennai-ites are immune to any kind of sickness that might accompany it.

Next stop, Krishna sweets. They sell basically the best south indian food ever. You also get the strangest but somehow tempting variety of sweets there. The sweets...ah now they're something out of this world. They start with a strange variety of colours-green pink, white etc. but pop one in and you'll know pure ecstasy,i have no idea how they do it each and every time.Squeeze into one of the tables nearby and the humid air that hangs about the place usually doesnt get in a person's way of enjoying the food much but still.

Oh by the way you may not wanna check out the pro bikers showroom nearby, bajaj bikes only(bleh)

And to sit on the beach, feasting on a plastic packet of sundal(tomatoes, chopped onions, green chillies and groundnuts) with the strong breeze [again] messing up you're intricately chopped/styled locks, with your best friend cracking jokes is an experience outta this world!

Next stop, odyssey adyar, as you walk in,you get hit by a blast of cold air which is something welcoming if you've stepped out of the heat. You can choose to either find a corner and sit reading a book, go up the stairs, sit by the DVD section and bob you're head to the music on the listening area complete with a view of the entire road or you can choose to head back near the entrance and listen to the worldspace satellite radio there, you can choose your channel or you can get gaming with the Xbox 360 gaming controller and 35 inch lcd monitor right near the iPods and mp3 players. Beware-after about 10 minutes of messing up on the Xbox (cuz of the stupid highly sensitive controller) get ready to get a lot of tips from the sales people nearby on drifting, racing or even keeping the car crash-free.

(Now really,i'd throw in a note about city centre, spencer's plaza, landmark etc but they're everywhere and theres not much special about them)

Faithless-part 2

IF YOU HAVENT READ PART 1 PLZ SCROLL DOWN AND RAD IT BEFORE READING PART 2

He stood there in silence
Confused and hollow inside
Carved on a tombstone
R.I.P

His messy black hair fell forward drenched in rain and tears
his knees could hardly hold him up
It seemed too good to be true
and it was

The whispered sweet nothings
the comfortable silences
the tickle rockets.
All lost to memories that were to fade

2 days ago they were walking together
hand-in-hand smiling
it seemed so silly back then
that he'd once considered leaving everything
The 2 of them as happy as they could've been

If it weren't for the drunken driver that swerved
hitting her as she collapsed on the road
She was rushed to the hospital
but the lines on the machine went straight

She had passed

He felt the hollowness beneath his heart
as he kneeled down sobbing
resting his head on the tombstone.
He could nearly smell her sweet mysterious perfume
"And she never told me what was in it"
He thoght to himself remembering all the times
he'd tried to catch a glimpse of the enigmatic
scent that he loved so much

He sighed heavily and settled down on the grass
the rain pelted down harder
he could almost hear her sweet laugh ringing in his ears
He gazed up at the sky
wondering what he'd done
or why they had such little time together
when there was still so much left that he didnt do

He sobbed harder trying to run away from reality
he could almost hear her call out his name
almost feel her slender fingers slip thru his
Her giggles at his jokes.

All their arguments
all the times they gazed at each other and burst out laughing for no reason
just because they could
and they did

He closed his eyes trying to feel something
Blank.
He opened his eyes and gets up
trudging through the rain again
all alone for good this time.

Faithless*-part one

He stands alone
his heart burning with hate
he loved her so much
but she played him like a game

He trudges on in the pouring rain
no one can see his tears
the pain of it all
rips his heart and blows it to pieces

he talks to his best friend
and she listens to him and everything he says

Shes known him
ever since
they were kids,
shes also loved him ever since then

In a flash of a moment
he saw a tear in her eye
he looked at her in surprise
and asked why she had to cry

she furiously held back tears
she loved him with all her heart
but she knew he didnt feel the same
way about her

He took a moment to hold back a silent tear
he loved her as a friend
but also as a lot more..

They looked away in a moment of awkward silence
no one knew
what to say
or what to do

He finally stands up
"I should go now" he tells her heading to the door
and starts to leave

The truth flashed before her eyes
he was completely shattered inside
there was no way she could let him do something stupid
like commit suicide

"Before you leave can i give you something i've always wanted to?"
she asked him nervously
"Its not like i care anyway"
he told her annoyed
"I thought we were friends
but this cant wait any longer"
she persisted

"Oh all right"
he finally agreed
"But make it quick
its getting late and i have to leave.."

She hurried into her room
and came out holding her prized possession
A soft white stuffed rabbit
with a tasteful note of childish infatuation
and an 'I love you' note in its paws
"I always have and always will"
she tells him blushing
"Go ahead and reject me"
she says with a weak smile
"I just thought i should let you know"

He stood rooted to the spot
speechless
he had no idea wat to say
he'd always loved her
but he'd never known
that her feelings about him were the same way

He sweeps her into his arms
and kisses her cheek
"My life has been a living nightmare this week
thanks for waking me up,
i've always liked you.
Holding you like this
is what i've always wanted to do"

She tries to talk
but gives up
when their lips met
their lives had just changed
without a moment of regret

*Note:This is a work of pure fiction, when writing this,i was not thinking of anyone in particular.
